On October 24, EBANX president of Global Payments, Paula Bellizia, will discuss the potential of alternative payment methods (APMs) to shape emerging markets for the better. With alternative payments now comprising more than a 30 percent share of the Latin American digital market, Bellizia will highlight the importance of localization, customer behavior, and culture to facilitate and optimize these transactions. She will also share her perspectives on how these methods have ignited the digital economy in LatAm and in Africa, two of the regions EBANX has operation, and ways that APMs can accelerate economic growth elsewhere around the world.

On October 25, EBANX CEO and co-founder, João Del Valle, will be interviewed by the MoneyPot podcast live at Money20/20. During this interview, Del Valle will discuss the meteoric rise of Brazil’s government-backed Pix instant payments system, which launched in November 2020.

According to the Central Bank of Brazil, 61 percent of Brazilians over 18 years of age have registered at least one Pix key since then; in September 2022 alone, over 128 million people and 11.2 million businesses used the system at least once, moving BRL$1.02 trillion using Pix. Del Valle will reflect on the economic, governmental, social and societal factors that set the stage for Pix to become a huge success, and highlight parallels that exist between Pix’s rapid adoption in Brazil and the hidden potential of similar digital payment platforms springing up across the globe.
